Couch Potato Tax
Has anyone heard of congress' next ploy to relieve American obesity. It's called the Couch Potato Tax. They charge you an extra eight cents for things that somehow lead you to the couch. Games are definetly on the list for tax, and so is fast food, food in general (taxing food like this is dumb), and anything that leads you to sitting on your @$$.
Personally, I believe this is BS. It isn't the games fault that America is fat. It is the parents who buy games for their children or for themselves who are at fault. Since the tax is only eight cents, it won't really motivate anyone to not buy games or food. Are they trying to motivate us not to buy as much food? Well it doesn't matter. If they wanted this tax to work, they would make it a dollar or so. So my opinion is congress knows this won't work, they just wanna profit from the many consumers of games.
Let me hear your opinions on this matter!

the only person whos to blame for being over wiegth is yourself.. can't blame your parents for giving u money for a game or buying u a game. u should get off your fat ass and exercise workout do some outside work, play a sport anything. america could blame fatty foods but who buys them? blaming anyone else for being fat is plain stupid ;p
passing a tax for food is also plain stupid, that'd be like the 3rd tax there is on food in some states

Are you calling me fat James? Well that doesn't matter, the point is, the government knows this tax won't be as effective as they try to makes us think. The government just wants to profit off of a great industry that makes millions and millions every year. And the governments greedy hands want a few of that millions.
It simply isn't fare to tax gamers for wanting to play and relax. And Dubya has no say on that. He can't rant all he wants, I'm gonna rant back!

Your attitudes are mostly like it's just eight cents. Well since it's only eight cents why does the government still tax it. It obviously will not motivate any gamers to go out side and play. My point is, if this tax is to stop American obesity, then it's definitely going to have to be a lot higher than eight cents. I really have a problem with the government trying to get rich off something, otherwise couldn't touch. This tax is not to stop obesity, it is to fill their greedy little pockets. And I am strictly outraged that of all they could tax, they choose gaming. Like I said eight cents is not going to motivate anyone so, they are doing this strictly to get rich.

Taxing is what the government does, yes. But this tax is simply ridiculus in the fact that it doesn't motivate anyone to go out and play. I mean, come on, eight cents isn't really going to stop me from playing my games. This leads me to the conclusion that the government wants to get rich of an industry they shouldn't even be touching. Gaming is gaming. Goverment is government. We should stay within our grounds. And the fact that eight cents is obviously a ploy to get rich off gaming infuriates the hell out of me.
