Hudson to Publish 25 Games Developed for BREW™

Posted on Thursday, March 25, 2004 @ 01:58:11 pm E.S.T

Hudson Entertainment, the newly-formed North American division of Hudson Soft (Nippon New Market “Hercules” Osaka SE: 4822) today announced it has signed an agreement to publish games developed for QUALCOMM’s BREW solution.

Hudson Entertainment intends to release 25 BREW game titles by June 2004. Some of the company’s first BREW-based games will come from the archive vault including: “Bomberman,” the mobile remake of Hudson’s thrilling bombs-away action game in which players blast through 30 stages, eliminating enemies and discovering secret doors; “Adventure Island,” a classic platform adventure through areas of dangerous island jungle to overcome an evil witch doctor; and “Lode Runner,” the classic gold digging adventure in which players mine their way to the motherlode.

“We have already achieved tremendous success in offering BREW-based games via KDDI in Japan,” said John Greiner, president of Hudson Entertainment. “Our ‘Bomberman’ application has seen in excess of 300,000 paid downloads, signifying the massive popularity of this title. We hope our offerings in North America will exceed the numbers we’ve had in Japan and we’re convinced the BREW system will continue to drive our success on a global scale.”

“Hudson’s commitment to the BREW solution demonstrates that established game publishers continue to excel within the BREW community by bringing to the global marketplace some of the industry’s most highly anticipated titles,” said Mike Yuen, director of BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. “The BREW solution makes it easy for publishers to export their leading games to millions of BREW subscribers around the world.”

Hudson Entertainment is currently working on making the following titles available over the coming months: “Adventure Island,” “All Star Baseball,” “Blue Flame,” “Bomberman,” “Cannon Ball,” “Klondike,” “Lode Runner,” “Mouse Track,” “Nikki’s Cubie,” “Nutty’s Tale,” “Pinball,” “Powerful Vball Girls,” “Putter Golf,” “Pyramid Crash,” “Radar Fleet,” “Space Blast,” “Star Soldier Special,” “Super Darts,” “Tennis Challenge,” and “World Cycling,” among others.

QUALCOMM's BREW system provides products and services that connect the mobile marketplace value chain, which includes application developers, publishers, content providers, device manufacturers, operators and consumers.

Publishers and developers worldwide are generating revenue from BREW-based applications and content, and 24 manufacturers have offered more than 120 BREW-enabled device models to consumers. Many very successful operators have deployed commercial BREW-based wireless data services, including Verizon Wireless, ALLTEL, Cellular One, MetroPCS, Midwest Wireless and U.S. Cellular in the United States; China Unicom, KDDI in Japan, KTF in South Korea, Hutchison Wireless CAT in Thailand, Telstra in Australia, VIVO in Brazil, BellSouth Chile, BellSouth Colombia, BellSouth Ecuador, BellSouth Panama, BellSouth Perú, Movicom in Argentina, Telcel in Venezuela, Verizon in the Dominican Republic, Verizon Wireless Puerto Rico and Pelephone in Israel.
