Logitech Announces Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation 2

Posted on Friday, March 19, 2004 @ 06:55:56 pm E.S.T

Logitech (Nasdaq:LOGI)(SWX:LOGN), a leading provider of gaming controllers for PCs and consoles, has announced a new cordless controller for the PlayStation(r)2 computer entertainment system. Unveiled at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hanover, Germany, and scheduled to be featured at the Computer Game Developers’ Conference in San Jose, Calif., the Logitech(r) Cordless Action™ Controller for PlayStation(r)2 is modeled after the original Logitech Cordless Controller for PlayStation(r)2, but features a smaller, lighter form factor that many gamers prefer, while still providing lightning fast response with its 2.4 GHz cordless radio frequency (RF) technology. The new product, which at the extremely attractive price of $39.99 in the U.S. is the most affordable Logitech cordless controller ever, is licensed in the U.S. by Sony Computer Entertainment America. It will be available in April at major retail outlets and online at http://www.logitech.com .

“Logitech is committed to providing gamers with high-quality cordless controllers that are comfortable and affordable, and offer uncompromising performance” said Fred Swan, director of marketing for Logitech’s Interactive Entertainment Business Unit. “The Logitech Cordless Action Controller for PlayStation(r)2 addresses all of these requirements in a product that is attractive and fun to use.”

Logitech’s 2.4 GHz cordless RF technology ensures complete freedom of movement with no degradation in response and accuracy. Now gamers can roam freely around the room while experiencing lag-free gameplay from up to 30 feet away. A mini-receiver plugs directly into the console. Two AA batteries provide at least 50 hours of battery life when the vibration feature is activated, and at least 100 hours without vibration. What’s more, if the controller goes out of range, or has been out of use for more than five minutes, it enters a sleep mode, preventing unnecessary battery drain.

The Logitech Cordless Action Controller is equipped with dual analog sticks and features dual vibration feedback. It is fully compatible with PlayStation(r), PS one™ and PlayStation(r)2.
