Logitech Announces the Cordless Precision Controller for the XboxPosted on Friday, March 19, 2004 @ 06:54:03 pm E.S.T
Logitech (Nasdaq:LOGI) (SWX:LOGN), a leading provider of gaming controllers for PCs and consoles, has added another new member to its growing family of cordless controllers for gaming consoles — the Logitech(r) Cordless Precision™ Controller for the Xbox(r) video game system from Microsoft. Modeled after the original top-selling Logitech(r) Cordless Controller for Xbox, the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for Xbox, announced at the CeBIT tradeshow in Hanover, Germany, and scheduled to be featured at the Computer Game Developers’ Conference in San Jose, Calif., offers the same precision and lightning-fast response with its 2.4 GHz cordless radio frequency (RF) technology. However, the new controller features a lower price, smaller size, and half the battery requirement (two AA batteries). Due to ship later this spring, the Logitech Cordless Precision Controller for Xbox carries a suggested retail price of $49.99 in the U.S.
“Xbox fans have been asking for a smaller, lighter controller that doesn’t sacrifice quality or accuracy,” said Fred Swan, director of marketing for Logitech’s Interactive Entertainment Business Unit. “Our newest cordless controller meets these needs at a very attractive price. We believe this combination of affordability and performance will convert even more gamers to the fun and flexibility of cordless play.”
The Logitech Precision Cordless Controller features a standard Xbox button layout and dual analog sticks. Powerful 2.4 GHz cordless radio frequency technology developed by Logitech provides complete freedom of movement and lag-free gameplay within a radius of 30 feet. The unit offers dual vibration feedback for enhanced gaming realism with a battery life of at least 50 hours (using two AA batteries). To ensure maximum battery life, the controller enters sleep mode if it goes out of range or remains unused for more than five minutes.
