KOEI Corporation, the acclaimed publisher of console strategy and action games, today announced that NAVAL OPS: COMMANDER has shipped to North American retail outlets, and is in stores now.
"The pure excitement of Naval Ops: Commander's real-time shooting action is backed by a rich level of strategy and simulation elements," said Amos Ip, Vice-President of Sales & Marketing for KOEI Corporation. "The introduction of the Tactical Battle Group system allows for new battle tactics while Naval Ops' signature Strategy phase gives players the ability to design or purchase their own warships."
NAVAL OPS: COMMANDER takes place in an alternate world where only two super powers remain. The evil Virshian Empire is deploying it's fleet of superships in it's bid to conquer the globe, while the nation of Navishia attempts to recover from a devastating surprise attack. Players assume the role of a warship captain in the Navishian Navy and must design, and command their own fleet of ships. Players will encounter swarming fighters, high-speed combat vessels, and otherworldly Superships as they battle across large ocean areas.
NAVAL OPS: COMMANDER introduces several new features including a TBG (Tactical Battle Group) system that gives players real-time control of a primary warship command of up to three escort ships that provide assault and defensive support. With over 80 stages, the real-time shooter includes more than twice as many stages as Naval Ops: Warship Gunner(TM). Over 1,000 ship parts are available for ship design including hundreds of weapons, propulsion systems, hulls, electronics, plus pre-designed combat vessels, escort ships, and aircraft.
Developed by MICROCABIN, NAVAL OPS: COMMANDER is exclusive to the PlayStation 2. NAVAL OPS: COMMANDER is a 1 Player game and is rated "T" (Teen- Violence) by the ESRB.
