Sigil Games Grows Again, Hires Four New Artists

Posted on Tuesday, December 02, 2003 @ 03:37:56 pm E.S.T

Sigil Games Online, Inc. today announced the addition of four well-known and award-winning artists to the team already working on the first truly third generation massively multiplayer game. Den Beauvais will join Sigil as Senior Artist, while Brom and Don Maitz create concept art for the game, with industry veteran Tom King handling the User Interface.

About Den Beauvais
Den Beauvais, a.k.a. ‘the Imaginator,’ has been a professional freelance artist since 1980. Den is best known for his cover art on books, magazines and game boxes, and has won numerous awards including the “Eagle” award for Favorite Comic Book Cover in 1989 for Aliens. Additionally, he was nominated by his peers for the Chesley Award (Best Paper Back/Hard Cover Artist) in 1992 and 1994. Den’s websites are www.den3d.com and www.denbeauvais.com.

About Brom
One of this generation's most popular fantasy artists, Brom has lent his distinctive and often disturbing visions to a multitude of projects. From Dungeons & Dragons to Doom II, novels to comics to his ground-breaking work in the collectible card game market, Brom's powerful and dark visions have vividly brought to life entire worlds and have placed us face-to-face with the beautiful, the deadly, and the bizarre. Brom’s website is http://www.cale.com/brom/.

About Don Maitz
Enthusiastic reception and international acclaim has surrounded the imaginative paintings of Don Maitz for over 25 years. Maitz has received the Silver Medal of Excellence from the Society of Illustrators, two Hugo awards (including a special Hugo for Best Original Artwork), a Howard Award and ten Chesley Awards for his artwork. Two books of his work have been produced, Dreamquests: The Art of Don Maitz and First Maitz. Maitz’ past clients include National Geographic Magazine, Seagrams & Sons, New York Publishers, Sony Online Entertainment, Paramount and Warner Brothers Studios. Maitz also created and continues the Captain Morgan Spiced Rum character and he worked as conceptual artist on the animated feature films Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius and Ant Bully. Maitz’ website is www.paravia.com/DonMaitz.

About Tom King
Tom King began his career in gaming as a Senior Programmer on Microsoft Golf, leading the front-end development of that project, while teaching himself 3D modeling in his spare time. When SOE introduced a customizable user-interface for “EverQuest,” one of Tom’s favorite games, it only made sense to him, with his deep passion for art and all things fantasy related, to create a multitude of varied themed interfaces. As he attempted to create interfaces that were both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, his work quickly began to draw attention from both the gaming community and developers. Tom will now begin work on his next generation of user interface, utilizing Sigil’s next generation graphics technology. Tom’s website is http://home.comcast.net/~tomjking/.

About Sigil Online Games, Inc.
Sigil Online Games is led by Brad McQuaid and Jeff Butler, two of the key figures in the production of the runaway hit "EverQuest," the most popular massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Based in San Diego, the company is dedicated to the production of massively multiplayer games that provide the best community gaming experience technologically possible and are currently building a third generation MMOG with Microsoft as their publisher.
