Gamers Get Ready! Nokia Game 2003 Begins on November 19th

Posted on Thursday, November 13, 2003 @ 12:27:52 am E.S.T

On November 19, gamers will begin competing in Nokia Game 2003, a 10-day interactive multimedia game competition that includes a series of challenges, turn-based role play games, as well as arcade-style action. Last year, Nokia Game registered a record number of gamers - over 1 million. Registration for Nokia Game 2003 has already begun, with capacity expanded to accommodate more participants than ever before. The top winners in each participating country will receive a Nokia N-Gage mobile game deck as a prize.

The objective of Nokia Game 2003 is to help the protagonist, Flo - an 18 year-old "mobile jockey" - overcome the evil AnyOne Clan. Although solo competition is possible in Nokia Game 2003, players are encouraged to recruit a "clan" of their own - a team of up to five players - to take on the AnyOne Clan. It's the ultimate battle of mobile good versus evil, with the future of mobile gaming on the line.

Earlier this fall, eager mobile gamers had the chance to hone their skills by downloading the Nokia Game software for their Nokia N-Gage game deck or Nokia 3650 phone. This allows players to take advantage of this year's Nokia Game mobile online gaming elements to upload their high scores, download ghosts and compete against other players via Bluetooth wireless technology or mobile networks. Although separate from the Internet based part of Nokia Game 2003, players were able to get to know Flo and practice their game skills.

"Nokia Game 2003 opens up a new world of online gaming with its compelling storyline and exciting features, such as turn-based games and the possibility to compete directly with other Nokia Game players across many different countries," says Pekka Rantala, Vice President, Marketing Services, Nokia Mobile Phones. "This year, competitors receive points for their speed and dexterity through time trials and problem solving, but will also be rewarded by connecting with other players and employing a multi-player team strategy."

Gamers wishing to compete in Nokia Game 2003 are encouraged to register at www.NokiaGame.com. While the official start of the contest begins on November 19, gamers can already start to hone their skills and familiarize themselves with Nokia Game 2003 gameplay. Interested contestants should register early to avoid disappointment and can also invite their friends to join.
