Drake of the 99 Dragons for Xbox Blasts Its Way to Retailers Nationwide

Posted on Thursday, November 06, 2003 @ 02:23:28 pm E.S.T

Gamers will be transported from their couches into the middle of an interactive comic book as Majesco, one of the fastest growing publishers of interactive entertainment software, announces the shipping of Drake of the 99 Dragons for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft. Available in time for video games' most anticipated holiday season to date, Drake of the 99 Dragons will carry a suggested retail price of $39.99.

"Drake of the 99 Dragons is the type of game whose appeal reaches a broad range of consumers," said Ken Gold, Vice President of Marketing for Majesco. "The visually arresting comic book-style and fast-paced, pick-up-and-play action will captivate players as they are consumed by the deadly world of the 99 Dragons Clan."

In the game, players assume the role of its lead character, Drake, a member of the 99 Dragons Clan, who has vowed to avenge the murder of his clan and recover a stolen ancient artifact. This powerful artifact has the ability to trap the souls of the living and resurrect those of the dead, holding the potential of becoming the ultimate weapon of evil. Brought back from the dead to rectify these wrongs, Drake carries out his mission with a heavy inventory of supernatural weapons and firearms.

Developed by Stockholm-based Idol FX, Drake of the 99 Dragons features a specially created style of graphics known as "rimlight" texturing. Visually resembling a blend of cel-shading and environmental mapping, it creates Drake's unusual "neon gothic" comic book-like appearance. In addition to the video game, an original comic book series of the same name will also be available at comic book retailers everywhere.
