Mission: Impossible - Operation Surma Web Site Goes Live

Posted on Wednesday, October 01, 2003 @ 11:37:11 pm E.S.T

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to process the valuable Atari intelligence at the official Mission: Impossible® - Operation Surma website located at www.mi-game.com. After extensive research, we now know that Mission: Impossible® - Operation Surma is, in fact, the stealth-action game of Holiday 2003 -- it is your role to ensure the world is made aware of this latest threat to game systems worldwide.

Intelligence available on the new site includes:

  • Videos featuring stealth infiltration techniques and loads of high-tech Mission: Impossible gadgets and weapons in action.
  • A wide variety of classified and highly detailed screenshots.
  • Message forums where like-minded agents can stay in constant communication.
  • Character dossiers highlighting IMF agents and opposing spies as well as complete files detailing mission and location data.
  • And of course, a media section containing the latest Mission: Impossible news, previews and reviews.
In Mission: Impossible - Operation Surma, players step into the role of Ethan Hunt as he traverses the globe uncovering the insidious mysteries behind the malevolent Surma Corporation and its newly developed virus, ICEWorm, which allows Surma to break into any computer system in the world. Armed with the hyper-cool, super spy technology and weaponry inspired by the Mission: Impossible movies, such as miniature remote-controlled devices, micro cameras, tranquilizing darts and character disguises, Hunt must lead his elite team in preventing Surma Corp. from achieving its ultimate goal: global domination.

Mission: Impossible - Operation Surma features groundbreaking gameplay that empowers players to choose the tactics and game play style they wish to use in tackling mission objectives. For example, as Hunt, a player can forge an uneasy alliance with questionable allies in order to gain the upper hand against an overwhelming enemy force; or, the player can charge in, with the latest top secret IMF weapon; or, the player can slide silently in and out of the shadows, penetrating enemy lairs unnoticed. Ultimately, the nature of the adventure lies in the player's hands.

Mission: Impossible - Operation Surma is being developed by Atari's Paradigm Entertainment and will be available this December for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft and Game Boy® Advance. The Nintendo GameCubeT version of Mission: Impossible - Operation Surma will be available in 2004.
