EA Buys Religious Rights To All Video Games: Jesus is Pissed - HOT!Posted on Friday, April 01, 2005 @ 09:01:13 am E.S.T
SAN FRANCISCO--(GAMINGWIRE)--April 1, 2005--
Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today announced the purchase of all religious rights to video game content. In 2000, production for "Christ: The Second Coming" was canceled in favor of pursuing the "Bond" series. Five years later, because of the success of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of The Christ", they have restated the production of the religious game, something that rarely happens in the industry.
President of the company, Don A. Mattrick, went public today announcing the game's scheduled release date, June 6th, 2006, or 6/6/6. Still no word has come from any officials, but Pope John Paul II is expected to make a statement this coming month.
Features of the game:
You play as Jesus Christ, himself, and must put a stop to evil demons rising up from Hell during the supposed Armageddon. In this epic first and third person adventure, you will face individual bosses based right from the Bible and the Book of Revelation, leading up to a final fight with Satan, himself. In an innovative twist, Jesus will use the Holy Spirit as a psuedo-Force (ala Star Wars) technique, enabling the player to defeat enemies without using the divine fist of God. EA has yet to announce which consoles will recieve this game, or whether it will make it onto the expected Xbox 2.
