Leading video games developer and
publisher Namco Hometek Inc. announced today it has partnered with Hori (U.S.A.),
Inc., a Japan-based peripherals manufacturer, to offer a limited edition TEKKEN® 5
premium bundle set to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the fighting franchise.
The bundle will retail for $99.99 and include a copy of the game, a Hori customized
peripheral and a special six-disc collectors DVD case for storage of all games in
the TEKKEN franchise. Developed exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer
entertainment system, both TEKKEN 5 and its limited edition premium bundle will be
available in stores in Q1 2005.
"We are pleased to continue our relationship with Hori and are confident this
limited edition bundle set offers gamers the most complete and definitive TEKKEN 5
game play experience," said Garry Cole, Executive Vice President at Namco Hometek
Inc.
The TEKKEN 5 limited edition peripheral offers highly accurate controls replicating
the arcade game play experience currently found on the coin-op version of TEKKEN 5.
Partnering again for release in the United States, Namco and Hori previously
collaborated on the release of a limited edition Flightstick 2 bundle set for ACE
COMBAT5: The Unsung War in 2004.
"With so many peripherals in existence, we are committed at Hori to delivering the
most unique and highest quality products available for gamers," said Ray Hiyoshi at
Hori (U.S.A.), Inc. "Our newest peripheral was designed for TEKKEN 5 and those who
love the best fighting game franchise of all time."
The TEKKEN 5 premium bundle set will be available at a limited quantity of 20,000 at
specialty retailers beginning on the launch day of the software. As part of the
pre-order program at Electronics Boutique, GameStop and Game Crazy, players will
receive a collector's edition art book that features the art of TEKKEN spanning the
10-year history of the franchise. The book is available while supplies last and
delivered upon purchase of the game.
Renowned for its variety of characters, amazing graphics and lightning-paced game
play, TEKKEN 5 promises to deliver the ultimate, most visually stunning fighting
game experience ever seen in a TEKKEN game. TEKKEN 5 brings back the popular cast of
characters from the previous TEKKEN games, along with three new characters, for a
total of 20 default characters to start and more to unlock as players progress in
the game. TEKKEN 5 allows players to use their fight money to customize their
characters with various accessories such as hats, glasses and an assortment of
different costumes. Each of the new characters is equipped with a variety of deadly
techniques, and the returning characters have been updated with new moves and attack
combinations.
