Alienware Selects ATI ’s FireGL™ Visualization SeriesPosted on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 @ 04:35:29 pm E.S.T
ATI Technologies Inc. (TSX: ATY,
NASDAQ: ATYT) has led the graphics industry in the transition to PCI
Express graphics with its native solution, which has resulted in Alienware
integrating the FireGL™ Visualization series of workstation graphics
accelerators in 100% of its new PCI Express-based professional systems.
Professional users who rely on the stability and reliability of their
systems day in and day out have a native PCI Express graphics solution with
the FireGL™ V3100 and FireGL™ V5100, ready to leverage all the capabilities
of this new interconnect.
The Alienware workstations target the full range of professional users from
Digital Content Creation (DCC) to Digital Audio to Digital Video, who will
all benefit from ATI’s specialized support and full certification of
leading professional applications, such as 3ds max, Catia, Maya,
Softimage|XSI and CAD and AEC applications. The FireGL V3100 features 128
MB of memory, 4 pixel pipelines and 2 vertex processors, with dual display
support via VGA and DVI outputs. The FireGL V5100 features 256 MB of
memory, 12 pixel pipelines and 6 vertex processors with dual DVI output and
stereo 3D capabilities.
“Alienware has built its name on delivering superior products that exceed
customers’ expectations so we looked closely at the different PCI Express
graphics options available,” said Robert Lusk, Vice President of Sales and
Marketing for Alienware. “Despite the varied needs of professional users,
they all require reliability and stability, which is why Alienware selected
FireGL for all of its PCI Express Systems.”
“Alienware’s selection of the FireGL V3100 and FireGL V5100 across all
their PCI Express professional systems illustrates the performance and
reliability of these graphics accelerators,” said Dave Rolston, Vice
President and General Manager, Workstation and Embedded Products, ATI.
“With certification of all the leading professional applications,
Alienware’s professional customers can be assured that FireGL workstation
graphics accelerators will fit flawlessly into their production pipeline.”
ATI’s FireGL products are supported by a unified driver, which is tested
and certified by professional 3D ISV partners, making system administration
and upgrades cost effective and simple. All FireGL products come with a
three year warranty and unlimited direct access to a dedicated workstation
technical support team.
