THQ Ships The Fairly OddParents: Shadow ShowdownPosted on Thursday, September 09, 2004 @ 01:22:38 pm E.S.T
THQ(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:THQI) and Nickelodeon today announced the release of The Fairly OddParents(TM): Shadow Showdown for the PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo's GameCube(R) and PC. Based on Nickelodeon's top-rated show, The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown is currently shipping to retail outlets throughout North America.
"Last year's Fairly OddParents videogame set a high quality bar for licensed kids' titles with its unique, award-winning animation style and spot-on representation of the cartoon," said Philip Holt, vice president of product development, THQ. "The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown continues that standard. It builds upon last year's game with more humor, challenging puzzle elements, awesome graphics and larger, more diverse level layouts."
"The Fairly OddParents is currently the highest rated program on all of kids' TV," stated Steve Youngwood, Senior Vice President, Nickelodeon Media Products Group. "In this videogame version of the show, THQ has done a great job replicating the quirky characters, wacky wishes and outrageous humor that make The Fairly OddParents such a successful franchise."
In The Fairly OddParents: Shadow Showdown, kids all across Dimmsdale are rattled to discover there's no TV reception, preventing them from watching the season finale of Crash Nebula. Timmy, Cosmo and Wanda embark on a journey that soon goes beyond simple TV static as they uncover a plan to take over the world set in motion by a dastardly antagonist known only as The Shadow. The player must maneuver through seven areas based on episodes from the TV show. The game also features 18 new side-splitting wish inventions such as the Suit Spray, Repair-o-Tron, Super Irritating Klaxon, Pogo Stick of Justice, Super Cleft Freeze Ray, and many more. Also included for the first time are mini multiplayer games in which players can compete head-to-head. The console games include several mini-clips hidden throughout the game and the PlayStation 2 version also includes an exclusive documentary on the making of the game.
Blitz Games Limited developed the console versions of The Fairly OddParents Shadow Showdown. THQ's internal studio, Helixe, developed the Game Boy(R) Advance version, which will be available September 20. Imagine Engine developed the PC version.
