Logitech’s Newest PC Joysticks and Gamepad Now Hitting Retail Shelves

Posted on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 @ 11:02:13 pm E.S.T

FREMONT, Calif. – August 20, 2003 – Logitech (Nasdaq:LOGI) (Switzerland:LOGN) is bringing more fun to millions of PC gamers with its new lineup of gaming devices for the PC: the Logitech(r) Extreme(tm) 3D Pro joystick, the Logitech Attack(tm) 3 joystick, and the Logitech Dual Action(tm) Pad gamepad. All three products are now available at www.logitech.com and on retail shelves in the U.S. for a suggested retail price of U.S. $39.99, U.S. $24.99 and U.S. $19.99, respectively. European pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.

"Logitech continues to set the standards for the PC gaming hardware market, with ongoing innovation, great design and exciting new features," said Fred Swan, director of marketing for Logitech’s Interactive Entertainment Business Unit. "Because we remain committed to gamers, we are introducing products designed to enhance the gaming experience, especially for the highly anticipated new titles scheduled to launch over the next eighteen months. We believe there are many devoted PC gaming fans who will appreciate the fresh new hardware choices that we’re offering."

Although sales of hardware and software for console platforms are strong and growing, there remains a large installed base of PCs, which serve as a “digital hub” for a variety of activities, including desktop gaming, either as a passion or as a break from other computing tasks.

The new Logitech PC gaming products lineup include:

* Logitech Extreme 3D Pro - The Extreme 3D Pro blends useful features with a new eye-catching industrial design. For quick and easy access to the multiple commands of today’s games, the joystick has twelve conveniently placed action buttons. A comfortable twist handle nearly essential in many games acts as a rudder in flight simulation games and allows fast rotation in first-person games. The joystick features a rubberized 8-way hat switch and a high-precision throttle that allows gamers to adjust power settings in a game with pinpoint accuracy.

* Logitech Attack 3 - With an easy setup and simple layout particularly well suited for entry-level gamers or those for whom a joystick is not the usual controller of choice, the Attack 3 joystick is suitable for gamers of any experience level. It features 11 programmable buttons to choose from, making it easy to select and fire weapons or to change gears. Attack 3 is the company’s first joystick in some time to offer an ambidextrous handle, providing excellent comfort and functionality for both right and left-handed gamers, while a throttle control rotates smoothly for accurate control of power settings.

Both joysticks are compatible with PCs and Macintosh computers, and feature a space-saving, weighted base that keeps them from shifting around during gameplay. In addition, both feature a single centering spring within the body of the joystick that allows smooth and accurate handle movements with equal force applied in all directions.

* Logitech Dual Action Pad - Logitech gaming engineers took the most desirable features that gamers have been asking for and incorporated them into a gamepad with an affordable price. The Dual Action Pad has a lightweight design that includes two rubber-capped analog joysticks for total control and a smooth 360-degree motion. An 8-way D-pad allows for precise movements within a game. Four responsive triggers and six buttons complete the “right stuff” for eliminating the competition with minimal effort.
