Gametrak wins “Best of GC 2004” award at Leipzig Games ConventionPosted on Monday, August 23, 2004 @ 04:30:02 pm E.S.T
In2Games’ forthcoming Gametrak PS2 control system and games beat off strong competition to be awarded “Most Innovative Product” at Europe’s largest consumer games show, the Leipzig Games Convention, last week.
Atari and SevenM, In2Games’ distribution and marketing partners for Germany, Switzerland and Austria at Games Convention, displayed launch title Gametrak: Dark Wind (coming late September) and the forthcoming Gametrak: Real World Golf (Q1 2005)
The Best of GC 2004 award places Gametrak alongside other category winners such as Grand Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 4, according to the official GC website (http://www.gc-germany.de).
Gametrak will launch in late September, bundled with Dark Wind, the revolutionary first-person fighting game developed by Atomic Planet exclusively for Gametrak. With a retail price of £69.99 or 99 Euros, the revolution comes at a truly accessible price, making Gametrak Europe’s most hotly-tipped present this Christmas!
“We are truly delighted that Gametrak has been recognised as Best of GC 2004” commented Harry Holmwood, In2Games’ Marketing Director. “Fighting and golf represent just the first in a long line of innovative and exciting games for the Gametrak platform.”
Atari Germany’s Product Manager Stephan Pietsch added, “Everybody, from the press and retailers to the consumers on the show floor loved Gametrak. People are really excited about it, constantly crowding our booth to play, or just see, Gametrak for real.”

About Gametrak
Gametrak is a revolutionary new controller for PS2 which gives users precise and intuitive control in 3D space – unlike camera technologies, Gametrak allows movement forwards and backwards as well as up, down, left and right, and does all this without any time delay or processor overhead. Instead of a complex and intimidating series of buttons and joysticks; fighting games will enable users to physically punch opponents using boxing gloves; sports games will allow users to pick up and play using real golf clubs or tennis rackets; adventure games will become totally immersive as users are able to manipulate ‘virtual’ onscreen objects with their hands. Gametrak’s unique design means that it can be offered to consumers at a genuinely mass-market price, bundled with specially developed games, the first of which will be Dark Wind, a first-person perspective fighting game. In 2005, In2Games will launch golf, dancing, mini-games and baseball products for Gametrak.
About Dark Wind
Dark Wind is the first game to be developed from scratch to use Gametrak technology. Being developed by leading UK studio Atomic Planet Entertainment, Dark Wind is the first totally immersive fighting game – you punch, you slap, you block, you maim –intuitively, with no confusing buttons or inaccurate joysticks – in full 3D. Dark Wind will be launched on PS2, bundled with a Gametrak controller, in 2004. Posted By: Adam Paoli - 161 Reads
