Chat with Spy Fiction Director "Swery" at SpyFiction.com

Posted on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 @ 02:02:15 pm E.S.T

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – May 12, 2004 – Sammy Studios Inc., a developer, publisher and global distributor of interactive entertainment content, today launched the web site dedicated to the upcoming stealth-action game Spy Fiction at http://www.spyfiction.com . Designed by Flashlevel Inc., the fun, interactive site highlights the game’s characters, storyline, unique gadgets and innovative game play.

As a special introduction the new site will feature email chats with Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, the enigmatic co-founder of Access Games, Inc., and writer and director of the company’s debut title Spy Fiction. “Ask Swery” email chat participants can ask just about anything regarding the game or about Swery himself. Best of all, entries whose emails are answered by Swery will be entered into drawings to win a Logitech® Pocket Digital™ 1.3 megapixel camera. Swery will also pen an ongoing column to reveal how a group of video game veterans became entrepreneurs to pursue their idea for an action-stealth game inspired by classic works of spy fiction. Exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Spy Fiction is slated for release in September 2004 at an MSRP of $49.99 and is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.

“Spy Fiction is a fun, fast-paced spy game that brings new twists and turns to stealth-action,” said Tim Pivnicny, senior VP of sales and marketing for Sammy Studios, Inc. “The web site is designed to showcase the game’s many innovations in play and exciting premise that draws its inspiration from works that defined the spy genre. It also gives people the chance to interact with Swery, one of the game’s key creative minds.”

Spy Fiction features game play mechanics and in-game devices designed to kick stealth-action into high gear. The game introduces the ability to steal and assume appearance, voice and other identifying characteristics, letting players disguise themselves as any character encountered in the game. Other innovations to the genre include new gadgets designed to keep game play at a fast pace, a unique arsenal of “bang-and-burn” devices, open-ended missions with multiple paths, and action-oriented puzzles such as mine detection, rappelling and parachute insertion.

Spy Fiction follows Billy Bishop and Sheila Crawford of Phantom Strike Force, a ghost surveillance unit of the Special Execution Agency, or S.E.A. A shadowy espionage agency largely unknown among world bodies, the S.E.A. employs an elite unit of operatives with access to highly advanced weapons and gadgets. The Spy Fiction web site is designed to initiate newcomers to the S.E.A., uncovering the agency’s modus operandi and high-tech arsenal in “Agent Training” and offering downloadable ‘snapshots’ and videos of agents in action in “Top Secret” files. Visitors can access “declassified training briefs,” including one for the game’s unique I.D. theft system. Interactive features on the site include message boards and “Ask Swery”, a direct email chat with the game’s creator that gives participants the chance to win a Logitech Pocket Digital camera. The site also offers story and character profiles exposing the history of the S.E.A., a free email newsletter, downloadable wallpapers and the “Become a S.E.A. Recruiter” fan site kit. In addition to the dedicated game site, Sammy Studios has launched a forum for the Spy Fiction community at http://forums.sammystudios.com . The Spy Fiction site is now live at http://www.spyfiction.com .
