Sammy Studios Introduces 16-Player Fighting Game at IronPhoenix.comPosted on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 @ 01:53:40 pm E.S.T
Sammy Studios, Inc., a developer, publisher and global distributor of interactive entertainment content, today launched the Web site dedicated to the upcoming 16-player online fighting game Iron Phoenix at http://www.ironphoenix.com .
Designed by Beck Interactive, Inc., the site highlights the video game promising to bring a new experience to 3D fighting as the first-ever online multiplayer fighting game. Iron Phoenix introduces a number of new elements to the fight genre with squad-based melee combat, wire-fu style Kung-Fu fighting, a weapons-based moves and combos system and team play that includes the ability to string together combos between characters. Players will battle with more than ten playable characters and nine unique weapons in massive battle arenas, with beautiful indoor and outdoor environments set in a mythical ancient China. Iron Phoenix will also offer a rich single-player mode, with a story and setting drawn from classic martial arts epics. Developed by InterServ International, Inc., exclusively for the Xbox® video game system from Microsoft®, Iron Phoenix brings multiplayer Kung-Fu fighting to Xbox Live™ in Holiday 2004. The title has an MRSP of $49.99 and is not yet rated.
“With Iron Phoenix, we have created a new game genre using online multiplayer,” said Tim Pivnicny, senior VP of sales and marketing, Sammy Studios, Inc. “Iron Phoenix is simultaneously a fighting game and a melee combat game, and it incorporates game modes and play mechanics inspired by squad-based shooters. Add Kung-Fu weapons and fight moves motion captured from professional martial artists and you are looking at a video game experience like nothing before it.”
Iron Phoenix follows the fate of a set of powerful weapons created from shards of a massive meteor. A legend claiming absolute power to anyone who controls all the weapons becomes the thunder portending a storm; a call to arms for the greatest warriors to gather for the final decisive battles. The newly launched Iron Phoenix Web site introduces this rich universe, taking visitors through a virtual tour conducted by the game’s legendary master warrior Qi Go. As master to Kai and Mia, two young warriors on the quest for the weapons, Qi Go tells the story behind the Iron Phoenix meteor and reveals some of the coveted weapons forged from it. Master Qi Go begins his schooling Kai, Mia and future warriors with a look at game play modes and the massive indoor and outdoor battle arenas that will be the ultimate Iron Phoenix proving grounds. Throughout the robust site, visitors will have access to artwork, screenshots and videos, as well as downloadable content such as wall papers and character avatars. The most promising warriors can post on Message Boards, preorder Iron Phoenix and sign up for a newsletter to get constant updates as the game progresses towards release. In addition to the dedicated game site, Sammy Studios has launched a forum for the Iron Phoenix community at http://forums.sammystudios.com . The Iron Phoenix site is now live at http://www.ironphoenix.com .
