NDL announced today that more than a dozen computer video game titles using its Gamebryo 3D graphics engine and tools will be demonstrated at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the interactive entertainment industry's premiere event. A wide range of genres, visual styles and platforms will be represented in the titles launched by top-tier developers and publishers at E3. Gamebryo enables these organizations to focus on creating stunning content and gameplay while saving development time and cost. NDL is holding meetings and demos throughout the Expo, held from May 12-14, 2004 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Playboy: The Mansion is a highly anticipated game co-published by ARUSH Entertainment and Groove Games (West Hall 2208). The title blends state-of-the-art social simulation with traditional role-playing and empire-building gameplay. Playboy: The Mansion demonstrates the cross-platform and graphics capabilities of Gamebryo as well as the product's ability to integrate with proprietary, internal engines.
Sid Meier's Pirates! is one of the most anticipated titles this year and will be on display at the Microsoft Direct X Games for Windows (South Hall 968) and ATI (South Hall 1608) booths. With the use of Gamebryo, the game's developer, Firaxis, will carry on the great design tradition of the award-winning original while also delivering updated gameplay, stunning new features and spectacular 3D graphics. Pirates! provides players the opportunity to experience the intrigue, adventure and danger of life as a pirate on the Spanish Main.
Empire EarthŇ 2, developed by Mad DocŇ Software, is showing in Vivendi Universal Games' booth (South Hall 1200) and is the sequel to the award-winning strategy game Empire EarthŇ, named in 2001 by GameSpy as "PC Game of the Year." Using Gamebryo's advanced graphics features, Mad Doc is able to add custom features, content and gameplay to help create Empire Earth 2's unique look and feel. The company is the first of several developers under the Vivendi Universal Games multi-platform publisher's license of Gamebryo.
Microsoft (South Hall 1246) and Blue Fang Games are developing the Zoo Tycoon sequel titled Zoo Tycoon 2 for a scheduled release for the Windows platform this fall. Blue Fang has implemented Gamebryo with its internal technology to enhance Zoo Tycoon 2's 3D graphics and gameplay to create an engaging simulation title for gamers of all ages.
Mythic Entertainment is previewing three new products at the show, all of which use Gamebryo technology. The first two are expansions to its hit MMORPG, Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs and New Frontiers. Catacombs, a retail expansion set for release in December of 2004, includes upgraded player character art, new player classes and fresh content and challenges. In addition, the company is showing Dark Age of Camelot: New Frontiers, the free expansion pack focused on Realm vs. Realm combat, which is scheduled for download this summer and currently in open beta. Mythic is also showing Imperator for the first time behind closed doors. The new sci-fi MMORPG is set in a future world where Ancient Rome never fell. Mythic's booth is located in the Concourse Hall, booth 153C.
TKO Software (Kentia Hall 7022) is using Gamebryo in the development of the PlayStation®2 version of a 3D action adventure game based on the movie Sahara, an upcoming film from Paramount Pictures starring Matthew McConaughey, Penelope Cruz and Steve Zahn. Gamebryo enables TKO Software to rapidly port their technology to the PlayStation®2 platform to deliver this multi-platform title quickly and in conjunction with the movie's launch.
Codemasters (South Hall 646) is demonstrating the upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) Dragon Empires. The title uses Gamebryo to create the game's characters, creatures and objects. The game combines NDL's technology with enriched details, making this MMORPG an exceptionally interactive experience. Scheduled for release this fall, the game has already built a successful community from online beta testers all over the world.
Gamebryo is being used by TimeGate Studios (Kentia Hall 6506) to help develop Kohan: Kings of War, a sequel to Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns. TimeGate Studios is adding various improvements over the original game, including a full 3D environment. Many new effects have been added to Kohan: Kings of War to give the game a very realistic look and feel. Gamebryo has helped the development team create life-like characters.
Irrational Games is continuing its relationship with NDL and utilizing Gamebryo in Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich, the follow-up to the critically-acclaimed Freedom Force. The comic book-inspired tactical role-playing game features a new league of heroes and villains, a streamlined combat system, and spectacular graphics. Gamebryo's advanced graphics features enable programmers to showcase bigger-than-life characters faithfully lifted from comic book pages.
Due to release later this year, other Gamebryo powered titles include, TimeGate Studios and Atari's Axis and Allies (PC), Microids' Knight's Apprentice Memorick's Adventures (Xbox™) and Bethesda Softworks' IHRA Professional Drag Racing 2005 (PC, Xbox™ and PlayStation®2).
